Most people we speak to claim they have never had their rainwater tank cleaned, and claim the water comes out fine; just slightly tinted in colour or with a slight eucalyptus taste.

What happens over time is that leaves and debris enter the tank and begin to de-compose like compost on the bottom of the tank, turning the water a dark coffee colour. This, in turn, greatly affects the drinking quality and health factor of the water.

Entering a rainwater tank is illegal unless the individual and/or company is licensed to enter a confined space to the standard AS/NZS 2865:2001 and has been issued with the appropriate entry permit.

We strongly recommend that you request any tank cleaning company to produce their license and entry permit when on site and that they are appropriately insured otherwise you may be held liable for any problems that may occur.
